When to Call a Plumber: Top Signs Your Home Needs Expert Help

Knowing when to call a plumber is crucial, but it can be hard to spot the signs that something is wrong until the issue gets worse. Homeowners should be aware of some of the signs that there are issues with the plumbing so they can make sure issues are spotted quickly and that they are fixed right away. Some of the most common signs of a plumbing issue include the following.

A Pipe Has Burst

If a pipe bursts, fast action is needed to prevent significant water damage in the home. At the first sign of a burst pipe, water to the area or the home should be turned off. From there, plumbers from Superior Service can fix the pipes to prevent more water from getting out and damaging the home. Be sure to clean standing water as quickly as possible to minimize the damage to the floors, walls, and other areas of the home.

Drop in Pressure or Lack of Water

A drop in pressure or no water at all could indicate a leak in the main water supply line. It is a good idea to turn off the water to the house if possible and then call in the experts. They’ll inspect the entire main line as well as other areas in the home to determine if there is a leak, where it’s located, and what needs to be done to get everything working properly again.

Drains are Clogged

Clogged drains can be problematic, so most people will grab chemical cleaners to try to clear them fast. Unfortunately, this will end up causing more damage to the pipes, as the harsh chemicals will eat away at the pipes over time. Instead, for drain clogs that are hard to remove, contact the professionals and let them fix the problem.

Overflowing Toilet

All homeowners should know how to unclog a toilet if it starts to overflow. This should fix the problem if it’s a minor clog. If it starts to overflow again soon after, though, it might be a good idea to call in plumbers for help. They’ll find out what’s causing the clog and remove it completely to prevent the toilet from having further issues.

Hot Water is Discolored

Discoloured hot water indicates that there is an issue with the water heater. Often, water in the water heater becomes discoloured if there is a lot of sediment built up or there is rust on the interior. Get expert help to inspect the water heater carefully and to have it fixed before the issue gets worse or the water heater starts to leak.

No Hot Water

If there is no hot water, it may be because the water heater is not working properly. Making sure the breaker is on may be the first step for most homeowners. From there, the homeowner may want to check out other possible issues, but if it isn’t working or won’t turn on again, it may be a good idea to call in the professionals for help.

If you’ve noticed any of these or other signs that there is an issue with the home’s plumbing, it’s a good idea to get help right away. Call a plumber for emergency repairs to prevent further damage and make sure your plumbing is in good shape and ready to work as expected. The plumber will help with any plumbing concerns you may have.
