Efforts of Para-Medical Staff in Covid 19 Pandemic

The 2019 coronavirus pandemic is a threat to life globally as we know it. This infectious virus is caused by acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2). The first case was identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and then it propagated in various countries across the world. People around the globe are imprisoned in their homes with markets and educational institutes all shut down in an attempt to constrain the virus.

On the other hand Doctors, healthcare workers, and medical staff members are leading from the front, putting their own lives in danger to protect ours. In these challenging times, para-medical staff members are the real fighters with them being vulnerable to the infectious virus. So least we can do is to appreciate their efforts by staying safe in our own homes. Patients who are admitted to hospitals, isolation wards, or ICU are looked after by these para-medics who are better equipped with the safety gears. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the fundamental requirements for the para-medics to attend a Covid-19 patient is to use impervious gowns, gloves, a medical mask, eye protection, and Xray aprons. In this scenario, fear evolves a real hindrance for doctors and healthcare workers. We have already seen embarking evidence of dissent among ranks. There are numerous reports from Pakistan, as well as from abroad, of para-medics, abstaining to work because of lack of protective kits.

Para-medics should wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE consists of gloves, gowns, masks, protective eye guard, face Shield and x-ray aprons etc. Para- medics should acquire proper guidance and training in order to use PPE effectively. PPE provides physical barrier between the skin and microorganism from patients. Any para-medics working in red zone are obliged to use PPE as to reduce the risk of getting the infectious virus. One of the most valuable parts of PPE is x-ray aprons.

Radiation exposure is one of the major problems for healthcare professionals so to mitigate this risk; technology offers a wide range of x-ray aprons. These are light in weight and comfortable aprons that provide protection against radiations. There are a lot of advantages of these aprons that includes four outer material options, like our patented, anti-bacterial, Covid-19 compliant Ultra flex fabric and MagnaGuard closures.

Ready to go (RTG) line of aprons are manufactured within 24 hours and are ready to ship. RTG comes in several shapes, sizes and styles. It comes in four sizes: small, medium, large and extra-large. It also comes in a lot of different colors and has a removable pocket with customized logo as well. RTG aprons are stain resistant and can easily be strained and cleaned with the help of an anti-bacterial solution. There are three types of core material available in this apron:

  • Standard lead aprons
  • Lead-free aprons
  • Lead-lite aprons

It’s a prerequisite for healthcare workers to have this PPE in the area of their work in order to be safe and serve the patients. Para-medics are our real heroes in this chaotic time period so least we can do is to appreciate them by following the SOP’s and staying safe.
