AllAboutSamsung editor & Graphics Desiginer Max J announced on Twitter that OnePlus 8 may be the first smartphone of the Chinese smartphone brand that is provided with an IP rating for OnePlus 8 series. It’s one of the biggest leaps and you can say a milestone by OnePlus to protect their smartphones from the water after 6 years of a long journey. The high refresh rate smartphone was the first company introduced in Oneplus 7 pro.

If we can believe the rumours, the OnePlus 8 Pro, the company’s upcoming top device, will receive an IP68 rating to demonstrate water resistance. In recent years, the company announced that its smartphones are indeed watertight, but that the IP rating alone was missing. It would cost the consumer unnecessary high costs. If the rumours are true, then the company returns to that decision.
OnePlus 8 Pro officially waterproof
OnePlus is known to ignore major trends when they can turn out to be detrimental to the consumer. On the other hand, the company is also known for coming back to that kind of opinion and then applying the trends to their smartphones. A few years ago, for example, OnePlus knew that it was ridiculous that the headphone jack disappeared. Meanwhile, this is also no longer to find the smartphones of the brand. The smartphones from OnePlus, certainly according to the company itself, have always been reliable in terms of water-proofing. The arrival of the IP rating is not only an addition to the specifications. It ensures that water damage is also covered by your smartphone’s warranty. That has not been the case with OnePlus phones so far. It could cause confidence in the OnePlus 8 to rise, even if only slightly.
The question is whether the IP rating will only be available for the Pro version of the OnePlus 8, or whether the normal version will also get it. Of course, we still have to take this news with a pinch of salt, given that officially little is known about it.
