Best TV Series to Watch on Disney Plus Before the Year Ends

Disney Plus is home to some of the best content we’ve loved watching while growing up. From Marvel films to Disney Princess movies, their content library is filled with various movies that can turn back the clock and make us feel like we’re young again. However, did you know that it is also home to some of the best TV series ever released? We’re not talking about Disney-related shows but series like The Walking Dead, Modern Family, Criminal Minds, and more.

To get you started on your Disney+ journey, we’re here to share the best TV series you can start binge-watching over the holidays. Some of these shows are also available on other streaming platforms like Sling TV, so keep that in mind! Let’s begin.

  1. The Walking Dead

The classic TV series that introduced Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and the rest of the TWD survivors. If you haven’t seen or watched any of The Walking Dead episodes, it’s about a group of survivors who need to stay alive in the middle of a zombie outbreak. As the plague wiped out the majority of the human population, the remaining survivors needed to face the threat of zombies and the challenges of scavenging for resources for their own survival.

The Walking Dead has 11 seasons, so it might take a while for you to finish the entire series. However, trust us when we say that it’s worth it. If you’ve read the comic book of the same name, you’ll notice that there will be some changes to the story, but it just makes the TV series adaptation much more exciting for you.

  1. 9-1-1

If you’ve ever been curious about what happens in the lives of the first responders when you dial 911 on your phone, then 9-1-1 is something you should watch. The story is all about the lives of the 911 operators, firefighters, and the police department, who are usually the first people who respond to emergency situations.

What makes this TV series a good match for us is the realistic portrayal of the challenges faced by these so-called everyday heroes. In the series, you will witness both the professional and personal lives of these people, from their successful saves to their vulnerabilities and the emotional toll of their demanding jobs.

911 currently has six seasons, but there’s already a seventh season underway under ABC. If you have Dish TV, you can watch it on the ABC channel.

  1. Criminal Minds

Ever dreamt of being a criminal profiler? You should give Criminal Minds a try. It’s about a team of profilers at the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) who specialize in understanding the minds of criminals to solve complex cases. This crime procedural series explores the psychological aspects of criminal behavior that uncover what goes in the minds of some of the biggest serial killers in the world.

  1. Grey’s Anatomy

We’re pretty positive that you’ve already heard of this legendary medical series. Grey’s Anatomy is one of the longest-running TV shows out there, and it’s all about the lives of doctors who simply want to save lives every day — but of course, not all lives can be saved. It shows the journey of a group of residents through their medical careers, and how they cope with the challenges of the medical field while dealing with their personal relationships.

Currently, Grey’s Anatomy has 19 seasons, which are all available on Disney+. The 20th season was also confirmed and will start to air on March 2024, so you have some time to catch up; although that’s going to be a long journey.

  1. How I Met Your Mother

Another TV series classic, How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM), is probably one of the most unforgettable TV series out there. It offers a unique narrative structure where Ted Mosby tells the story of how he met his mother’s children. The series is set in New York City and follows Ted and his gang — Marshall, Lily, Barney, and Robin.

It’s an excellent TV show about friendship, through the highs and lows of relationships, career, and so much more. HIMYM has nine seasons, but it’s much easier to watch than other TV series with a lot of seasons since each episode is typically shorter, and they’re definitely all entertaining. You can also watch this series on various streaming platforms like Go Latino TV.

  1. Homeland
Up for some political drama? Homeland might be your best choice. The series follows Carrie Mathison, a brilliant but troubled CIA officer, as she navigates the complex world of counterterrorism. Global politics is something many of us are curious about, and this series will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat with its thought-provoking plot.

Homeland has eight seasons in total, with the final season premiering last 2020. And believe us when we tell you that it’s one of the best political drama TV series out there. Make sure to give this series a watch.

  1. Station 19

Station 19 is a Grey’s Anatomy spin-off about the lives of firefighters at Station 19 in Seattle. You’ll see how they create a tight-knit family while facing life-and-death situations. It’s somehow similar to 9-1-1, but it offers a different take on emergency responders’ lives. If you can’t get enough of Grey’s Anatomy, you should watch this.

Station 19 currently has 6 seasons, but a 7th season is already underway and will be premiered in March 2024 as well. Start watching it now so you can be on time when the latest season premiers!

  1. White Collar

If you’ve loved Blacklist or Suits, then you’ll likely appreciate White Collar as well. It’s about a unique partnership between a con artist and an FBI agent to solve white-collar crimes. We don’t often see this kind of story since we’re used to seeing an entire team of FBI agents fight crimes. But a conman with an FBI agent? It’s definitely something new. The show concluded with six seasons.
